In Überlingen, a 29-year-old man is facing legal consequences after allegedly stealing groceries from a local supermarket and assaulting an employee during the incident. This event took place on Wednesday afternoon in Lippertsreuter Straße.

According to reports, the suspect entered the store around 3:30 PM and filled his backpack with various food items before attempting to leave without paying. A vigilant store detective intervened and confronted the individual, successfully detaining him for a brief period.

In a sudden escalation, the suspect is said to have grabbed the detective by the collar and pushed him against a display stand, causing the employee to fall and sustain minor injuries. Despite the injury, the employee managed to pursue the thief and contacted law enforcement for assistance.

During his escape, the suspect discarded the stolen goods but returned to the store shortly thereafter to retrieve his uninsured e-scooter. Upon their arrival, the police apprehended the man and took him into custody.

He is now facing charges of robbery and violations related to mandatory insurance regulations. Additionally, officers suspected that he was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident, which led to him being required to undergo a blood test. The results of this test will determine whether he will face further charges for operating his e-scooter while impaired.
