Samsung Resumes One UI 7 Update Distribution for Android 15

Wed 23rd Apr, 2025

Samsung has resumed the global rollout of its One UI 7 update, which is based on Android 15, just over a week after halting the distribution. This information has been confirmed by the company, indicating a swift response to the earlier pause.

The update is currently being made available for Samsung's 2024 flagship models, including the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and Ultra, as well as the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. Users of these devices who did not receive the update after its initial release on April 7 can expect to access the new version shortly.

Previously, on April 14, Samsung had temporarily suspended the global distribution of the One UI 7 update and removed firmware images from its servers. While the company did not specify the reasons for this halt, it noted that the rollout schedule would be adjusted to provide customers with a smoother experience.

Reports from unofficial sources suggested that a significant issue related to the screen unlocking process prompted the update's suspension. Some users experienced difficulties unlocking their devices following the installation of the update.

Looking ahead, Samsung has announced a broader update plan. In addition to the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy S23 range and several models from the Galaxy Z Flip 5 series are slated to receive the new software in May. The Galaxy S22 and S21 families will also be updated during the same month, with a complete rollout expected by July, according to the current timeline.

Samsung is under pressure to expedite this rollout, especially with Google set to unveil Android 16 in June. Reports indicate that One UI 8 is already in development, and it is expected to come pre-installed on the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7.
