Wed 21st May, 2025

The renowned British comedian Ricky Gervais, known for his sharp wit and satirical humor, is set to receive a prestigious accolade as he is awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This honor, which marks the 2,813th addition to the iconic sidewalk, will be formally unveiled on May 30.

Gervais, 63, has gained fame for his incisive commentary on celebrities, often poking fun at some of Hollywood's biggest names. His reputation for delivering biting remarks was particularly evident during his five stints as host of the Golden Globe Awards, where no star was safe from his sharp tongue. In a notable moment from the 2016 ceremony, he humorously criticized the attendees, referring to them as 'a bunch of drug-addicted, sexually immoral scum.'

Despite the often controversial nature of his humor, the organizers of the Walk of Fame have welcomed Gervais's unique style. Ana Martinez, the producer of the Walk of Fame, remarked that Gervais's star will be a fitting tribute, suggesting that it will provide a humorous commentary each time someone walks by.

Among the attendees at the unveiling ceremony will be Ted Sarandos, the co-CEO of Netflix, and actor Christopher Guest, a close friend of Gervais. The two have collaborated on various projects, including the popular film 'Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian.'

Gervais's career is marked by numerous accolades, including a Golden Globe win in 2004 for his role in the acclaimed television series 'The Office.' In addition to his work in television, he has featured in films such as 'Night at the Museum' and 'Stardust.'

One of his most recent successes is the Netflix series 'After Life,' which he created, wrote, and starred in. The series, which explores themes of loss and coping, has resonated with audiences and further solidified Gervais's status as a multifaceted entertainer.
