The Puppentheater Gera is set to welcome audiences once again following a comprehensive two-and-a-half-year renovation. This beloved venue will officially reopen its doors on September 20, marking the occasion with a week-long festival filled with performances and guided tours of the newly renovated space.

According to the theater's administration, the renovation involved a complete overhaul of the facility. The building's roof and facade have been meticulously restored, and interior upgrades have resulted in a reimagined puppet workshop, dressing rooms, and a rehearsal stage. Furthermore, significant enhancements have been made to the stage lighting, flooring, and audience seating.

The inaugural week will feature a variety of productions aimed at diverse age groups. Among the highlights is the premiere of "Zilli, Billi und Willi," an engaging adaptation of a classic picture book by Elizabeth Shaw designed for younger audiences. In addition, adults can look forward to the puppet theater's performance titled "Kasper in Teufels Küche oder das Geheimnis der schlechten Laune," which promises to entertain and intrigue.

Susanne Koschig, the theater's director, emphasized their commitment to celebrating the reopening with a program that reflects the diverse interests of their audience. The festival is expected to attract both long-time fans of the theater and new visitors eager to experience the revitalized venue.

Overall, the reopening of Puppentheater Gera not only signifies a return to the arts for the community but also highlights the importance of cultural institutions in fostering creativity and engagement among audiences of all ages.
