Lincolnshire - Princess Catherine, known as the Princess of Wales, made a notable visit to the Royal Air Force (RAF) base at Coningsby, Lincolnshire, recently. This visit was particularly significant as she had been appointed an honorary member of the RAF over two years ago, in August 2023. Her long-awaited trip to the airbase, situated approximately 200 kilometers north of London, allowed her to engage in a unique experience related to aviation.
Upon her arrival, Princess Kate was dressed in a chic grey plaid suit by Bella Freud, complemented by an Alexander McQueen t-shirt and Stuart Weitzman shoes. After a thorough briefing on the Eurofighter Typhoon, a cutting-edge combat aircraft, she had the opportunity to step into the flight simulator.
With poise, the future queen ascended the nine steps of the mobile ladder leading to the cockpit, showcasing her confidence in high heels. Although she had previously experienced a helicopter simulator, operating a fighter jet simulator was a new venture for her.
Once in the simulator, the Princess navigated the virtual skies with determination and skill, even successfully executing a loop maneuver. Group Captain Paul O'Grady and his colleague Luke Wilkinson expressed their admiration for her aptitude as a pilot, indicating that she displayed natural talent in the cockpit.
During her visit, Princess Kate also shared a personal anecdote regarding her youngest son, Prince Louis, who aspires to become a fighter pilot in the future. She humorously mentioned that her children would be upset to learn she had seen a Typhoon without them and added that pursuing such a career requires a great deal of hard work and dedication.
As a delightful souvenir, the Princess received three keychains and toy airplanes for her children--Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Interestingly, it is worth noting that her paternal grandfather, Peter Middleton, was a Royal Air Force pilot during World War II and was recognized for his bravery and skills throughout his service.
