Munich - In a troubling case that has captured local attention, police are actively searching for Fabrizio S., a 34-year-old alleged con artist known for his taste for luxury, who is accused of defrauding individuals out of substantial sums of money. In just one month, he reportedly swindled nearly EUR150,000 from various victims in Munich. Fabrizio S. is said to have posed as the owner of two rental properties in the city, tricking prospective tenants into paying EUR8,200 each as security deposits. Among his victims is Zoe G., a 23-year-old student, and her sister, who also fell prey to his scheme. However, these rental scams are only part of his deceptive practices. During the Oktoberfest festivities, Fabrizio S. expanded his fraud to include the sale of fake table reservations at the exclusive Käfer tent. According to reports, he rented an office in the affluent area of Grünwald and decorated it with logos from fictitious companies to lend credibility to his operation. Potential buyers were misled, only to discover the truth when they attempted to access their reserved tables and were denied entry. One victim reported having purchased a table for acquaintances, only to find that others had been misled under the same circumstances, resulting in multiple individuals losing thousands of euros. The police were alerted to the fraudulent activities, but an initial investigation was halted due to what was deemed a minor case, as authorities were simultaneously investigating a more significant fraud case involving the same suspect. Fabrizio S., a known fraudster, had previously been convicted of fraud by the Augsburg District Court in December 2024, receiving a sentence of three years and three months in prison. However, he appealed the ruling to the Federal Court and has remained free while awaiting the outcome. His prior criminal activities included renting luxury BMWs, which he then resold for profit, resulting in a financial loss of at least EUR335,000 to victims. The police have intensified their efforts to locate Fabrizio S., who has now gone into hiding following his latest fraudulent activities. Reports indicate that his bank accounts are empty, and there is a possibility that he has fled abroad. Police spokesperson Christian Drexler stated that the search for this individual is a priority, as he continues to pose a risk to potential victims. Victims describe Fabrizio S. as an eloquent individual who flaunted a lavish lifestyle, often arriving in a Porsche Macan and dressed in designer clothing. His charm and confidence seem to have been key to his ability to deceive so many. As the investigation continues, the Munich police urge anyone with information regarding Fabrizio S.'s whereabouts to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community vigilance in preventing such fraudulent schemes in the future.
