Dortmund Police Intervene in Assault on Homeless Woman

Sun 10th Aug, 2025

Dortmund witnessed a violent incident early on August 10, 2025, near the Nord police station, where law enforcement officers intervened during an assault. At approximately 00:06, three police officers heard loud shouts coming from Münsterstraße. Upon investigation, they found a 40-year-old man attacking a 59-year-old homeless woman who was seated on the ground.

Witnesses reported that another man, aged 28, filmed the assault on his mobile device. The police promptly intervened and instructed the assailants to cease their attack. However, the aggressor responded with hostility, turning his aggression towards the officers. In response, law enforcement quickly subdued both individuals and placed them under arrest. The older man displayed significant resistance, necessitating the use of handcuffs for his restraint.

During the encounter, two bystanders attempted to disrupt the police's efforts, prompting the officers to deploy a stun device to maintain control of the situation. Following their arrest, both suspects were taken into custody at the police station. While the younger individual was released shortly after, the older man remained in detention to sober up.

Since neither suspect had a stable residence in Germany, authorities mandated a security deposit. Both individuals now face charges of aggravated assault. Fortunately, the homeless woman sustained only minor injuries and received medical attention on-site.
