In Hamburg, law enforcement officials have apprehended two suspects involved in a fraudulent scheme that targeted an 82-year-old man. The incident took place in the Blankenese district on the evening of August 6, 2025, when the elderly victim received a call from someone claiming to be a representative of a call center.
The scammer instructed the man to withdraw a significant amount of cash from his bank account. Fortunately, a vigilant bank employee noticed the unusually large withdrawal and promptly alerted the authorities.
Upon their arrival at the scene, police found the elderly man who had already handed over valuable items to two individuals. As the situation unfolded, undercover officers intervened during a planned cash exchange. They successfully arrested a 17-year-old German national at the senior's residence.
Simultaneously, in the vicinity of the crime scene, officers apprehended an alleged accomplice, a 21-year-old Turkish national. Both suspects have been placed in pre-trial detention as investigations by the State Criminal Police Office continue.
Authorities are currently assessing whether the arrested individuals are linked to other similar offenses and are exploring the possibility of additional accomplices being involved in the scheme.
