Kassel - A significant operation led by law enforcement in the Kassel-Nord area resulted in the apprehension of a suspected drug dealer on Tuesday morning. The operation was executed by the officers from the OE City and the riot police, who successfully detained the individual during a brief pursuit.

At approximately 11 AM, undercover officers spotted a 30-year-old male known for his previous involvement in drug-related offenses on Wolfhager Straße. The officers discreetly monitored his movements as he made his way towards the Nordstadt district. When a uniformed police unit arrived on the scene, the suspect attempted to flee, leading to a short chase down Mombachstraße.

The reason for his flight became evident shortly thereafter. During the pursuit, police discovered a bag containing 644 ready-to-sell cocaine packages discarded on a green area, which the suspect had apparently thrown away in an attempt to evade capture. The seized cocaine weighed approximately 220 grams, with an estimated street value of around EUR25,000.

In addition to the cocaine, the officers confiscated around EUR400 in suspected drug money and two mobile phones from the suspect during the arrest. Further investigations led to searches of his residence in Vellmar and a secondary location he used in Kassel. These searches yielded more evidence, including additional packages containing 6 grams of cocaine, more cash, two large pepper spray canisters, and various materials associated with drug trafficking.

The 30-year-old suspect, who hails from Algeria, now faces charges related to the illegal trade of cocaine in significant quantities. He is scheduled to appear before an examining magistrate the same day, who will determine whether he will be placed in pre-trial detention.
