In a noteworthy incident that unfolded in Osnabrück on a Tuesday morning, a 21-year-old man attempted to steal items from a drugstore located on Großen Straße. The young man was recognized by a store detective who confronted him, prompting the suspect to flee on foot.
A courageous passerby joined the detective in pursuit of the fleeing thief. The chase quickly escalated, and the duo managed to apprehend the suspect shortly thereafter. However, the situation turned violent as the shoplifter resisted arrest, inflicting injuries on both the detective and the bystander. One individual sustained a bite wound on his right forearm, while the other suffered scratches and a bite on his hand.
Law enforcement arrived at the scene shortly after the altercation and took the suspect into custody at the request of the Osnabrück public prosecutor's office. The officers discovered stolen perfumes valued at over EUR1,100 in the suspect's backpack. Additionally, a breathalyzer test revealed that the individual had a blood alcohol content of 1.05 percent. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence related to the incident.
