Nvidia Expected to Launch High-Performance GeForce RTX 5090 Ti or Titan Blackwell This Summer

Nvidia is reportedly preparing to introduce a new flagship graphics card this summer, with speculation focusing on the launch of either the GeForce RTX 5090 Ti or a card under the Titan Blackwell name. Industry sources suggest this release will build upon the performance of the current GeForce RTX 5090, aiming to solidify Nvidia's position at the top of the consumer GPU market.

Initial reports, originating from French technology outlet Overclocking.com, indicate that several graphics card manufacturers have received information about an upcoming high-end model from Nvidia. While the final product name remains uncertain, both GeForce RTX 5090 Ti and Titan Blackwell are being considered as potential branding options for the card.

Technical details shared by sources familiar with Nvidia's internal testing reveal that the new model is expected to feature an enhanced version of the GB202 GPU. Approximately five percent more shader cores are anticipated to be active compared to the standard RTX 5090, potentially bringing the count close to 23,000. This is a notable increase over the 21,760 shader cores found in the existing model, though it still falls short of the full configuration, which boasts 24,576 cores. Nvidia's highest-tier professional solution, the RTX Pro 6000, continues to offer 24,064 shader units.

One of the major factors contributing to the anticipated performance boost is a significant increase in power consumption. Reportedly, Nvidia is targeting a standard power draw between 700 and 750 watts for the upcoming model. In prototype testing, power usage has reportedly exceeded 1,000 watts in certain scenarios. For comparison, the standard GeForce RTX 5090 has a maximum power consumption of around 575 watts. To accommodate this, the new card may require dual 12V-2×6 power connectors, each rated for up to 600 watts, similar to the configuration used in MSI's RTX 5090 Lightning Z.

Performance estimates based on early hardware samples suggest that the new card could outperform the RTX 5090 by at least 10 percent, with the possibility of reaching up to 15-20 percent higher performance if Nvidia selects optimal chips and utilizes faster memory. The video memory configuration is expected to remain at 32 GB, aligning with the current flagship offering.

The announcement of the new graphics card is rumored to coincide with the Computex trade show in early June, aligning with Nvidia's history of unveiling major products at prominent industry events. However, Nvidia's product launch strategy has previously been subject to last-minute changes, and as such, these details should be regarded as preliminary until official confirmation is provided.

Meanwhile, ongoing reports indicate that Nvidia is unlikely to release the previously rumored Super-Refresh variants of the RTX 5000 series in 2026. These models, including the GeForce RTX 5070 Super, RTX 5070 Ti Super, and RTX 5080 Super, were initially expected to feature a 50 percent increase in video memory. However, due to the current global memory shortage, implementing such upgrades is considered cost-prohibitive at this time.

As anticipation builds within the technology and gaming communities, Nvidia's forthcoming flagship graphics card is poised to set new benchmarks for consumer GPU performance, prioritizing raw speed and enhanced capabilities for demanding applications.
