Nvidia GeForce Now Launches on visionOS for Apple Headset Users
Nvidia has announced the integration of its cloud gaming service, GeForce Now, with visionOS, making it accessible for users of the Apple Vision Pro headset. This update allows gamers to play over 2,000 titles directly through the Safari browser without the need for a dedicated application.
The new functionality was officially rolled out following an announcement earlier this month, enabling users to experience gaming in high resolutions of up to 4K at 60 frames per second. To take advantage of this feature, users should ensure that their device is updated to the latest version 2.3 of visionOS.
To access GeForce Now on the Vision Pro, users must have an active subscription to the service. However, it is important to note that new subscriptions are currently unavailable due to high demand, as Nvidia works to expand its capacity. Existing subscribers can utilize the service on the Vision Pro, with monthly fees previously reported to be EUR11 or EUR22, depending on the subscription tier and session length.
A reliable internet connection is essential for optimal performance, with recommended latency not exceeding 80 milliseconds. Users can conduct a network test through the GeForce Now app on mobile devices to ensure their connection meets the required standards. Once the internet requirements are satisfied, users can navigate to the GeForce Now website using Safari on their headset, where they can enjoy various resolutions based on their internet speed, including HD, FHD, QHD, and 4K.
Gaming on the Vision Pro is facilitated through compatible Bluetooth game controllers, such as the Sony DualShock 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One and Xbox Series controllers. While users can connect a keyboard or mouse for navigation within the web application, gameplay controls are strictly limited to the physical gamepad. Initial setup, including login, can be conducted using hand gestures.
A comprehensive list of games available on GeForce Now can be accessed through their platform. Recently, the total playtime for new customers was capped at 100 hours per month, a limitation expected to apply to all users by 2026, with some exceptions. The free subscription tier typically includes access to 100 titles, but this option is currently unavailable for new users.
