With preparations underway for the upcoming summer travel season, Nuremberg Airport is set to introduce a significant expansion to its flight offerings. For the first time, travelers from Bavaria will have the opportunity to fly directly from Nuremberg to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco, located on the Atlantic coast. This new route is part of a broader effort by airlines and airports to enhance connectivity and meet growing demand for international travel options.
The Irish low-cost carrier Ryanair has announced plans to operate non-stop flights between Nuremberg and Rabat, commencing in April 2026. According to the airline's published flight schedule, the inaugural service is scheduled for early April, with subsequent flights available twice a week. Departures from Nuremberg are set for Monday evenings at 18:15 and Friday nights at 22:10, while return flights from Rabat depart Mondays at 13:10 and Fridays at 17:05. The total flight duration is approximately three hours and thirty minutes, providing a convenient link between Bavaria and Morocco's Atlantic region.
Rabat, renowned for its blend of historical architecture, vibrant culture, and access to scenic Atlantic beaches, is expected to attract both leisure and business travelers. The city's appeal as a travel destination is complemented by its status as a political and cultural center in Morocco. Direct access from Nuremberg is anticipated to strengthen tourism ties and offer new travel opportunities for residents of the region.
In addition to Rabat, Ryanair is maintaining and expanding its diverse summer schedule from Nuremberg Airport. The airline's direct destinations for the forthcoming season include a variety of European cities and holiday locations, such as Sofia (Bulgaria); Corfu, Chania, Preveza, and Thessaloniki (Greece); London-Stansted (UK); Bari, Cagliari, Naples, and Palermo (Italy); Zadar (Croatia); Vilnius (Lithuania); Faro and Porto (Portugal); and several Spanish cities including Mallorca, Alicante, Girona, Málaga, and Valencia. Budapest (Hungary) also remains on the list of direct connections.
Tickets for these flights are already available for booking on the airline's website. Passengers are reminded that Ryanair has recently updated its boarding procedures. Since November, printed boarding passes are no longer accepted, and travelers are required to present digital boarding passes. Additionally, those flying to destinations outside the Schengen area, such as Rabat, should be aware of updated airport security procedures and passport control requirements.
The introduction of the Nuremberg-Rabat route reflects the growing demand for diverse travel destinations among Bavarian residents and strengthens Nuremberg Airport's position as a key hub for international travel in southern Germany. By offering direct access to Morocco's Atlantic coast, the airport is poised to serve the needs of both tourists seeking sun-soaked destinations and business travelers interested in new markets.
Travelers are encouraged to review the latest travel guidelines and restrictions for Morocco before booking, as regulations may change. Nuremberg Airport and Ryanair continue to monitor global travel trends and remain committed to expanding options for passengers while prioritizing safety and convenience.
