German singer Nino de Angelo is facing legal repercussions after a series of incidents involving a car accident and subsequent police pursuit in Kempten, Allgäu. The events unfolded when the artist allegedly struck another vehicle in a parking structure. According to authorities, he subsequently damaged a parking barrier while exiting the facility, resulting in property damage estimated at approximately 3,500 euros.
Instead of remaining at the scene to address the incident, de Angelo reportedly left the area. Law enforcement officials state that he was then involved in a high-speed chase with police units while driving his sports car. Following an investigation by local authorities, the Kempten public prosecutor submitted a request to the local district court to issue a criminal order against the singer.
The charges brought forward include intentional driving without a valid license, leaving the scene of an accident without authorization, property damage, and participating in an illegal motor vehicle race. The district court accepted the prosecutor's request, with a judge confirming the issuance and delivery of the criminal order.
If the criminal order is upheld, de Angelo could receive a suspended custodial sentence. In addition, prosecutors are seeking a ban on reissuing a driver's license, which would significantly impact his ability to travel for professional engagements. The criminal order is not yet final, as the accused retains the right to contest the decision within two weeks of notification. Should an appeal be filed, the matter will proceed to a formal court hearing. Until a final verdict is reached, de Angelo is presumed innocent under the law.
As of now, the singer has not made any public statements regarding the charges or indicated whether he plans to challenge the criminal order. The potential consequences extend beyond legal penalties, as a suspended sentence would be entered into his official record, and a driving ban could hinder his career activities due to the necessity of travel in the entertainment industry. Financial penalties related to property damage and legal proceedings may also be significant.
Shortly after the original incident in July, de Angelo commented on social media in a lighthearted tone, referencing the event with a video and humorous caption. However, the current legal proceedings underscore the seriousness of the situation and the possibility of substantial personal and professional ramifications for the artist.
