On Sunday, Deutsch-Irischer Freundeskreis Bayern e.V. organized the 15th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, when Munich-based Irish people celebrate their national saint each year. Approximately 5000 visitors came to see the colorful parade that went from Münchner Freiheit until Odeonsplatz.
The feast day, which is a national holiday in Ireland, is celebrated on the 17th of March. As it is not a public holiday in Germany, the parade is usually held on the Sunday prior to the 17th.
The parade consisted of a mixture of floats, clubs, bands and sports processions, with stalls selling food and drink at Odeonsplatz.
