Gipsy Kings: "Music Is a Natural Way of Life"

A tragic incident occurred at a children's festival in Montreal, Canada, when a sudden and intense storm lifted an inflatable play structure into the air, resulting in the death of a three-year-old girl and injuries to ten other children. The event took place at Parc Ouellette in the LaSalle district, where families had gathered for a church festival that included various activities for children.
According to local authorities, severe weather conditions developed rapidly, with wind speeds reaching approximately 80 km/h. The forceful gusts swept through the park, dislodging unsecured objects, including tables, chairs, and the inflatable castle where several children were playing at the time. Witnesses described the inflatable being lifted several meters into the air before it eventually came down, injuring those inside.
Emergency services responded quickly to the scene, providing medical assistance to the injured children. Despite efforts by paramedics and hospital staff, the three-year-old girl, identified as Ava Ciampini, succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. Ten other children sustained various injuries, with some reported to be in serious condition, while others were treated for less severe wounds.
The community reacted with shock and grief as news of the accident spread. Hundreds of residents attended a memorial gathering at the site of the incident to offer condolences and support to the bereaved family. A makeshift memorial, consisting of flowers, toys, and balloons, was established in the park as a tribute to the young victim.
Local officials have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the inflatable structure becoming airborne. Authorities are examining whether the play equipment was properly secured and if safety protocols were adequately followed by the event organizers. Weather experts noted that sudden, strong winds can pose significant dangers at outdoor events, particularly where temporary structures are used.
The family of the deceased child expressed gratitude for the community's support and announced that Ava's organs would be donated to help save the lives of other children. A fundraising campaign initiated by friends and acquaintances has raised a substantial sum to support the family and cover associated costs. The incident has prompted renewed discussions about safety measures at public events, especially regarding the use of inflatable attractions in unpredictable weather conditions.
Authorities continue to work with meteorological agencies, safety experts, and event organizers to develop recommendations aimed at preventing similar incidents in the future. The investigation is ongoing, with findings expected to inform updated guidelines for outdoor entertainment structures in the region.
