A tragic incident has occurred in Nürnberg, where a young boy, who was reported missing, was discovered deceased in the Main-Donau Canal. Authorities believe the child, who had autism and was of primary school age, likely drowned following his disappearance on Sunday.

According to police reports, the boy had seemingly left his home without detection, prompting his family to alert the authorities. A search operation was swiftly launched, involving around twenty police officers who combed the area in search of the missing child.

Just hours after the initial report, police found the lifeless body of the boy in the canal around 2 PM. Despite immediate attempts at resuscitation, the efforts were unsuccessful, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators have indicated that they do not intend to pursue any charges against the boy's parents or caregivers, viewing the incident as a tragic accident rather than an act of negligence. The specific age and identity of the child have not been disclosed to protect the family's privacy.

The local community is mourning the loss, and authorities are emphasizing the importance of vigilance when it comes to the safety of children, particularly those with special needs. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident is ongoing, although it is currently focused on understanding how the child managed to leave the house without being noticed.

As the community comes to terms with this heartbreaking event, discussions around child safety and the accessibility of water bodies in residential areas are expected to take place, aiming to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
