Mike's music picks for the week 19.07-25.07
Mon 16th Jul, 2012
Perhaps because I grew up in Minnesota, which is very much like living on the edge, my musical tastes are rebelious and not very mainstream. Like a cold Minnesota winter, I like my muisc raw and with a bite.
Every week there dozens of live music concerts in Munich and we at The Munich Eyes will keep you informed of upcoming shows. Here are this week's concert picks, for those with an attitude or a strong desire to see something beyond radio playlists:
- Rancid-Friday, July 20, 8pm, at Tonhalle. This show is sold out; scalpers may be able to provide entry (for a price), in front of the venue.
- Avengers & the Adolescents-Saturday, July 21, 8pm at Hansa 39. Tickets are EUR15 at the door. These are two legendary old-school punk bands from California; if you don't know their names, look them up in an encyclopedia as they are that old and well known.
- Anli Pollicino-Sunday, July 22, 8pm at Hansa 39. Pre-sale tickets can be bought at: http://www.me-shop.net/ this is a J-Rock band for those with more Japanese tastes.
- G3 (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, and Steve Morse)-Monday, July 23, 8pm, EUR55.95 at Tonhalle. G3 is a guitar tour-de-force the likes of which is very rarely heard. The guitarists' names alone should nearly sell this show out and it is advised to buy your tickets as soon as possible.
Also be sure to check out the Backstage Free & Easy Festival article for some other top concerts which are also free!
