Gipsy Kings: "Music Is a Natural Way of Life"

A serious traffic incident occurred on Friday afternoon on the B12 federal highway near Jengen, a municipality in the Ostallgäu district of Bavaria, approximately 17 kilometers northeast of Kaufbeuren. According to the police headquarters of Swabia South/West, the event involved three vehicles and resulted in substantial damage and one reported injury.
The incident began when a 61-year-old motorist, traveling in the direction of Buchloe, veered into the oncoming lane for reasons that remain under investigation. As a result, his vehicle collided with a car driven by a 45-year-old individual approaching from the opposite direction. The force of the collision caused the 45-year-old's car to spin out of control and strike the roadside guardrail. The impact was severe enough to tear off one of the wheels from the vehicle.
Following the initial crash, a third vehicle became involved when it struck the wheel that had been detached and thrown onto the roadway. This secondary collision further complicated the situation and contributed to the overall material damage. The 61-year-old driver, after the impact, continued down the opposite lane for a short distance. Another driver narrowly avoided a collision before the 61-year-old's car eventually came to a stop on the correct side of the road.
Emergency services arrived promptly to manage the scene. One person sustained injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for further medical evaluation and treatment. The authorities did not specify the severity of the injuries, but no fatalities were reported as a result of the accident.
Due to the scale of the incident and the need to clear debris and conduct an investigation, the B12 was closed to traffic for approximately one hour. This closure affected both directions, leading to significant delays and necessitating detours for local and through traffic. The police managed traffic flow around the scene to minimize disruption to motorists in the area.
All three vehicles involved in the accident suffered extensive damage. According to official reports, at least some of the cars were classified as total losses. The precise value of the damage was not immediately available, but the destruction to the vehicles and infrastructure was considerable.
The police have launched an investigation to determine the precise circumstances that led to the 61-year-old driver entering the opposite lane. Factors such as driver error, possible distraction, or a technical fault with the vehicle are being considered as part of the inquiry. Authorities have appealed for any witnesses who may have observed the incident to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.
Jengen, located in the Swabian region of Bavaria, is known for its proximity to key transportation routes. The B12 is a significant road that connects several towns and is frequented by both local residents and transit traffic. The temporary closure caused by the accident underscored the importance of emergency response coordination and the challenges faced by first responders in managing major incidents on busy thoroughfares.
The police have reminded motorists to exercise caution when traveling on regional highways, especially in areas prone to high traffic volumes and where the potential for serious incidents exists. Investigations will continue, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
