Tragic Landslide Claims Life of Shepherd in Swiss Alps

In a devastating incident in Blatten, Switzerland, a landslide has tragically resulted in the death of a local shepherd, aged 64, who was attempting to rescue his livestock. The landslide, which occurred on a Wednesday afternoon, unleashed a massive torrent of glacier debris, mud, and ice from the Birch Glacier, catching the emergency services off guard. The scale of destruction was far greater than initially assessed, burying significant portions of the village beneath tons of rubble.

The shepherd, well-known in the area, was reportedly on his way to secure his animals when the natural disaster struck.
