King Charles Receives Rolls-Royce as Part of Coronation Gifts

Sat 31st May, 2025

The British monarchy has released a detailed list of gifts received by its members over recent years, revealing that King Charles III was presented with a luxurious Rolls-Royce from the King of Bahrain during his coronation. This information comes from an official document published by the royal household, which outlines the various official gifts bestowed upon the Royal Family.

The gifts cataloged cover a period from 2020 to 2023 and include items from other heads of state, organizations, and during state visits. The Rolls-Royce, specifically designated for official functions, is intended for use during state events and not for personal use, as reported by the British news agency PA.

In addition to the Rolls-Royce, King Charles received a variety of other gifts during his coronation ceremony two years prior. Notable items included a feather crown, a bottle of perfume, hiking boots, cufflinks, a ceremonial sword, and several plants. Among the gifts was a leather portfolio containing printed correspondence exchanged between his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and former U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower, a thoughtful present from President Joe Biden.

The list also highlights gifts received during King Charles's first state visit as monarch to Germany in March 2023. During this trip, he was gifted a watch, an insect hotel, and a CD and DVD collection featuring the works of famed composer Ludwig van Beethoven.

The heir to the throne, Prince William, and his wife, Princess Kate, also received notable gifts during their travels. During a Caribbean expedition in 2022, they were presented with snorkeling gear, which included a wetsuit and diving fins. It's worth mentioning that this trip was accompanied by protests against the Royal Family, reflecting a complex relationship with some of the territories visited.

According to PA, the gifts received by the royals are meant to be utilized and enjoyed; however, they do not become private property. Instead, these items become part of the royal collection and cannot be sold or exchanged. This policy ensures that the gifts maintain their significance and connection to the monarchy.

The recent disclosure of the royal gift list offers a glimpse into the ceremonial and diplomatic engagements of the British monarchy, emphasizing the longstanding tradition of gift-giving among world leaders and the significance of these items in representing international relations.
