King Charles Honors Cancer Support Organizations

Thu 1st May, 2025

In a heartfelt address at Buckingham Palace, King Charles III recognized the invaluable contributions of cancer support organizations. The monarch, currently battling cancer himself, emphasized the challenges faced by patients and their families, noting that each diagnosis can be a daunting and frightening experience.

Despite the difficulties, King Charles highlighted how such experiences can also bring out the best in humanity. He expressed deep appreciation for the compassion exhibited by healthcare professionals, volunteers, and members of support groups, describing their collective efforts as creating a 'community of care' that provides crucial support to patients during their toughest moments.

Additionally, King Charles extended his gratitude to scientists and medical practitioners who are making significant strides in cancer research and treatment. He acknowledged their groundbreaking work and the specialized care they provide, which earns the admiration and gratitude of his entire family.

Since publicly disclosing his cancer diagnosis in February 2024, following a routine operation that revealed the illness, the exact type of cancer he is dealing with remains undisclosed. It is confirmed, however, that it is not prostate cancer. The king has been receiving outpatient treatment but continues to fulfill public engagements, including international travel.

In March 2025, King Charles was briefly hospitalized for observation due to treatment-related issues but returned home shortly thereafter. His scheduled trip to Italy with Queen Camilla in April went ahead as planned.
