Armed Robbery at Textile Store in Kiel

Wed 3rd Sep, 2025

Kiel witnessed a shocking armed robbery on September 2, 2025, when an assailant brandishing a knife targeted a textile store located on Knooper Weg. The incident occurred around 2:30 PM, during which the perpetrator demanded cash from a 64-year-old employee who was alone in the shop at the time.

In a state of fear, the staff member complied with the demand and handed over a small amount of cash, which the robber placed into a plastic bag he had brought with him. Following the robbery, the suspect fled the scene on foot, heading towards Fleethörn.

According to descriptions provided by witnesses, the suspect is estimated to be between 30 and 40 years old, approximately 185 cm tall, and of a slim build. He was last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, dark trousers, and a cap. Notably, he had a distinctive red-blond three-day stubble and was reported to have a strong body odor. Witnesses mentioned that he spoke in German without any noticeable accent.

This robbery is reminiscent of another incident that took place the previous afternoon, on September 1, 2025, at a nearby bookstore in the Wik area. The descriptions of the assailants in both cases are strikingly similar, leading authorities to suspect that the same individual may be responsible for both crimes.

The Kiel Criminal Police, specifically the 13th department, is actively investigating these incidents and is appealing for information from the public. Anyone who may have witnessed the robbery or has any relevant information is urged to contact the police at 0431/160 3333.

As the investigation continues, the community remains on alert, emphasizing the importance of vigilance in light of these troubling events.
