Jewelry Store Burgled in Schleiden-Gemünd

Wed 11th Jun, 2025

In the early hours of June 11, a jewelry store located on Dreiborner Straße in Schleiden-Gemünd was targeted by burglars. At approximately 3:05 AM, unknown assailants broke a window and removed a metal grate, which was later discovered hidden in a nearby hedge.

The intruders successfully tampered with the store's alarm system and made off with several wedding rings and earrings from the display area. The estimated damage caused by the break-in is reported to be in the lower five-figure range in euros.

Following the incident, two suspects were seen fleeing the scene towards the Kurpark area. One of the suspects is described as male, under 30 years old, approximately 170 cm tall, with dark hair and a southern European appearance. He was last seen wearing a grey shirt and grey/black jogging pants.

Interestingly, this was not an isolated incident. A previous attempted burglary was reported between June 9, at 2:30 PM, and June 10, at 11 AM, at another jewelry store on Kölner Straße in Weilerswist. In that case, the perpetrators caused significant damage to a display window, but they were unable to gain entry into the building.

The police are currently investigating a possible connection between the two incidents. The Criminal Police are actively working on the case and have urged witnesses to come forward with any information.
