The snow crisis grips Austria, leaving thousands of households without electricity. ASFINAG urges drivers to equip their vehicles with winter gear, adjust their speed, and maintain safe distances, particularly on higher routes like the Arlberg Pass, which serves as a regional alternative due to the Arlberg Tunnel's closure.

The prolonged wintry weather is expected to persist until the weekend, with early temperatures ranging from minus 2 to plus 6 degrees Celsius. Daytime highs are forecasted to reach 14 to 22 degrees Celsius. Germany also anticipates changes in its weather patterns, mirroring Austria's transition from winter to a more temperate climate.
