Islamic militants jailed

Duesseldorf. Four Islamic militants have been sentenced in a German court to between 5 and 12 years for planning attacks on American targets in Germany.

They were accused of being part of the radical Islamic Jihad Union and of planning to kill American soldiers, civilians and diplomats. Bombs were to have been placed in bars and other locations frequented by Americans. The attacks were due to have been carried out in October 2007, but the suspects were arrested in September 2007.
