Munich. The beach parties at Corneliusbrücke could be cancelled this year. Currently it is unclear whether a majority in the city council will vote to allow the parties to be held in their current locations.
The CSU majority city council does not accept the new area proposals for the party beach. Also in the SPD there are growing doubts about the project. The politicians suggest the organizers find an alternative place for the beach.
The traffic islands at the Isartor, Siegestor and Max-Joseph-Platz in front of the opera are bordering busy roads. According to the KVR there could be a risk of drunken people walking on the road and risking their lives.
So for now, the party beach remains at the Isarbalkon of Corneliusbrücke where it has been offering concerts, art and gastronomy since 2004, all with a beach atmosphere. The organisers are planning to start this years beach parties on the 6th of May.
