Munich. On Wendsday in the social department at Laim, an information fair for single parents took place. The management of family and work was the central topic of the fair for lone parents.
Child care and work are typical problems for around 26,000 single parents in Munich - most of whom are women. Because of the high costs and shortage of places in nurseries, more parents are joining parent initiative child care centers. At least 7500 single parents living in Munich are receiving Hartz IV social benefits, many of them want to work. Overall, more than 20 participating institutions provided information for single parents on child care, legal issues and ways to return to work.
