Ikea has introduced its latest Bluetooth speaker, the Nattbad, priced at EUR40. Unlike its previous collaboration with Sonos, this new model focuses on direct integration with Spotify, specifically featuring the 'Spotify Tap' function.
The Nattbad speaker marks a significant shift for Ikea, as it is among the first audio products released following the termination of its partnership with the renowned audio brand Sonos. The company plans to expand its audio offerings further, with an additional model named Blomprakt set to launch in October, which will combine a lamp with a Bluetooth speaker.
One of the standout features of the Nattbad is its dedicated button for the Spotify Tap function. This feature allows users to quickly resume their last playlist or discover new music tailored to their listening habits with just a press of a button. Additionally, the speaker supports a multi-speaker mode, enabling users to connect multiple Ikea speakers that also support this function, allowing for synchronized playback across devices. The Bluetooth range for the Nattbad is at least ten meters, utilizing Bluetooth 5.3 technology.
In terms of size, the Nattbad measures 9.2 cm in depth, 17.9 cm in height, and 12.3 cm in width, making it relatively compact. Its housing is constructed from plastic and is available in three vibrant colors: yellow, pink, and black. While the sound quality is essential, the design seems to prioritize a retro aesthetic, with Ikea promoting the product with the statement, 'Music has never looked better.'
Additionally, Ikea is gearing up for the launch of the Blomprakt model later this year, which is a lamp that also serves as a speaker, reminiscent of the Symfonisk lamp that was co-developed with Sonos in 2022. Like the Nattbad, the Blomprakt will feature the Spotify button and also utilize Bluetooth 5.3. Specific details about this new product are still forthcoming.
The introduction of these new speakers is part of a broader Smart Home strategy by Ikea, which is expected to unveil over 20 new devices in the coming year. This initiative includes plans for new smart light bulbs, outlets, sensors, remote controls, buttons, and air quality monitoring devices. Furthermore, Ikea has announced its commitment to adopting the Matter standard for smart home devices, aiming to enhance compatibility and connectivity across various systems.
