High-Speed Collision on A8 Near Wendlingen: Mercedes Flips in Illegal Race

Wendlingen, Baden-Württemberg - Two young men engaged in a reckless high-speed race on the A8 late at night resulted in a serious accident involving a powerful Mercedes model. The incident occurred shortly after midnight as the drivers raced towards Munich.

A witness reported seeing a Mercedes E450 and a Mercedes S580 speeding side by side on the left and middle lanes, treating the highway as their personal racetrack. Both vehicles were accelerating simultaneously, showcasing their impressive horsepower.

During the race, the 20-year-old driver of the Mercedes E450, seemingly overwhelmed by the vehicle's 380 horsepower, attempted to switch from the left to the middle lane. In a sudden turn of events, he lost control, veered off into the green strip, and flipped his car multiple times before coming to a stop.

Remarkably, the driver emerged with only minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for precautionary examination. The financial damage to the vehicle is estimated to be around EUR25,000.

Authorities swiftly initiated an investigation into the illegal street racing. On the orders of the public prosecutor's office, both the Mercedes E450 and the more powerful Mercedes S580 were confiscated, along with the drivers' licenses and mobile phones of the involved parties. Reports indicate that the two men are friends.

The Mühlhausen traffic department is currently seeking additional witnesses who may have observed the reckless driving of the two Mercedes vehicles. They encourage anyone with information to come forward, especially those who may have felt endangered by their actions.
