Hamburg Central Station Stabbing: Most Victims Have Been Discharged from Hospital

A recent stabbing incident at Hamburg Central Station left 18 individuals injured, with four suffering from life-threatening injuries. As of four days after the attack, the majority of the victims have shown significant improvement in their health.

According to a spokesperson from the public prosecutor's office, 13 of the injured have been discharged from the hospital, while plans for the release of two additional victims are already in place. The condition of the remaining three individuals has not been disclosed, and it remains uncertain how many may require psychological support moving forward.

The attack was perpetrated by a 39-year-old woman, who had only recently been released from a psychiatric facility. On the evening of the incident, she severely injured 11 people and inflicted lighter wounds on seven others. Initially, three women aged 24, 52, and 85, along with a 24-year-old man, were reported to be in critical condition.

All victims were promptly transported to local hospitals for treatment. The public prosecutor's office reported that the injured parties hail from various regions, with seven residing in Hamburg, four from Bremen, three from Lower Saxony, and one each from North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, Hesse, and Poland.

As the investigation continues, authorities are focused on understanding the background of the assailant and the circumstances surrounding this tragic event. The community is left shaken, grappling with the repercussions of such violence in a public space.
