GTA VI Release Delayed Again: New Date Set for 2026

Fri 2nd May, 2025

The highly anticipated sixth installment of the Grand Theft Auto series, known as GTA VI, has encountered yet another delay, much to the disappointment of fans. Developer Rockstar Games has announced that the game will not be released this year, with the new tentative launch date now scheduled for May 26, 2026.

In a statement addressing the delay, Rockstar Games expressed regret over the postponement, emphasizing their commitment to delivering a product that meets the high expectations of players. The developers acknowledged the support and patience of the gaming community during this extended development process.

The reason behind the additional time required for the game's completion revolves around the need to achieve an exceptional level of quality. Rockstar noted that they aim to provide a gaming experience that players not only expect but also truly deserve. Further details regarding the game's features and updates are expected to be announced in the near future.

Previously, Rockstar had hinted at a release window in 2025, which was later refined to the autumn of that year before the latest announcement pushed the date back significantly.

In conjunction with the news of the delay, Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, reported the postponement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The report included projections of record financial results for 2027, largely attributed to the anticipated success of GTA VI.

As it stands, GTA VI is set to be released on major consoles, including the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, although no announcement has been made regarding a PC version. The gaming community remains hopeful that this additional time will result in the groundbreaking experience that the series is renowned for.
