The renowned British band Gorillaz is set to release a highly anticipated new album, titled The Mountain, in the coming year. This album promises to showcase a diverse array of international artists, featuring performances in five different languages: Arabic, English, Hindi, Spanish, and Yoruba. The band, led by Blur frontman Damon Albarn, aims to create a musical tapestry that reflects global cultures.

To kick off this new project, Gorillaz has already released the first single, The Happy Dictator, which features a collaboration with the iconic American duo Sparks, known for their distinctive sound. The album is expected to include contributions from a variety of notable musicians, including former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr, sitarist and composer Anoushka Shankar, Bollywood legend Asha Bhosle, rapper Yasiin Bey (formerly known as Mos Def), and the indie band Idles.

In a unique twist, The Mountain will also honor the contributions of late artists who once collaborated with Gorillaz. Fans can look forward to hearing the voices of celebrated figures such as soul legend Bobby Womack, Afrobeat drummer Tony Allen, and actor Dennis Hopper throughout the album's fifteen tracks.

The recording sessions for this ambitious project took place in multiple cities around the world, including London, Mumbai, New Delhi, Ashgabat, Damascus, Los Angeles, and New York, reflecting the band's commitment to capturing a truly global sound.

Gorillaz, which was formed in 1998 by musician Damon Albarn and comic artist Jamie Hewlett, is known for its unique approach to music and storytelling through animated characters. The band consists of four fictional personas: 2D, Murdoc Niccals, Russel Hobbs, and Noodle, and it blends elements from various genres including rock, hip-hop, electronic, and world music.

In addition to the album release, Gorillaz has announced plans for a tour in 2026, although specific dates for performances in Germany have yet to be revealed. This tour is expected to further showcase the band's innovative style and their latest musical endeavors.
