In a strategic move to counteract recent leaks, Google has officially introduced the Pixel 10 through a newly released video showcasing the design of its upcoming flagship Android smartphone. This approach follows a similar tactic implemented during the launch of the Pixel 9, where the company opted to share official images in response to unauthorized previews.
The video, made available on Google's official website, highlights the device from a rear perspective. While the overall design appears to remain consistent with its predecessor, the Pixel 9, the most notable change is the addition of a third camera lens within the camera module.
Since the Pixel 6, the standard models of Pixel smartphones have been equipped with two camera sensors, with the triple-camera setup reserved for the higher-end Pro versions. However, the Pixel 10 is rumored to feature a telephoto lens alongside the wide and ultra-wide cameras, marking a significant shift in the lineup.
According to a report from Android Authority published earlier this year, the Pro variant of the Pixel 10 will still distinguish itself from the base model by offering higher-resolution camera sensors. It is anticipated that the Pixel 10 will incorporate the same wide and ultra-wide lenses seen in the Pixel 9a, maintaining a 50-megapixel sensor for the wide-angle camera. The ultra-wide camera is expected to mirror the 13-megapixel sensor currently featured in the Pixel 9a.
For the telephoto lens in the standard model, reports suggest it will utilize an 11-megapixel Samsung sensor, designated as model number 3J1. In contrast, the Pro models are not expected to undergo significant changes in their camera configurations.
Google has scheduled a formal unveiling of the Pixel 10 for August 20, where more details about the device are likely to be disclosed.
