Google Enhances Circle to Search with Seamless Scrolling Translation

Fri 5th Sep, 2025

Google has announced an upgrade to its Circle to Search feature, enabling users to translate entire web pages and applications seamlessly while scrolling. This enhancement is part of a broader effort to improve user experience across various Android smartphones.

Since its introduction in early 2024, Circle to Search has been made available on numerous devices, and the new translation capability is expected to become a valuable tool for users seeking to understand content in different languages. The feature is particularly useful for interacting with social media posts or navigating menus while traveling abroad.

Previously, users had to restart the translation process each time they scrolled or updated the content on their screen. With this latest update, Google aims to create a more fluid experience. Users can initiate Circle to Search by long-pressing the home button or navigation bar, selecting the 'Translate' option, and choosing 'Scroll and Translate'. As they scroll down the page or switch apps, the text will continue to be translated automatically.

This new functionality will not be available to all users simultaneously. Google has indicated that the rollout will commence this week, starting with select Samsung Galaxy devices. Specific models receiving the update have not been disclosed. Circle to Search was first launched alongside Samsung's Galaxy S24 series, and gradually became accessible on Google's Pixel smartphones, as well as other manufacturers' devices.

In addition to translation, Circle to Search offers several other features, including the ability to recognize objects or landmarks in images, which can then prompt Google to provide additional information. An example showcased by Google involved a picture of a dog wearing swimming goggles, which, when highlighted, returned shopping results for similar goggles. The feature can also assist users in identifying songs by allowing them to play, sing, or hum the tune. Furthermore, it can automatically detect phone numbers, email addresses, and URLs, streamlining the process of utilizing this information.
