Allianz Arena - Bayern Munich returned to the top of the Bundesliga after a 7-0 demolition job of a woeful SC Freiburg side. Mario Gomez continued his recent goal-scoring frenzy with four goals and has now struck eight times in his last three Bundesliga outings.
Gomez opened the goal-fest on eight minutes after being neatly played in by his German international colleague Toni Kroos.
Man-of-the match Franck Ribery then vibrantly started running proceedings, adding a delightful brace of goals as the record champions totally overwhelmed a fragile Freiburg defence. Ribery's first on 26 minutes was a cheeky back-heel and typical of the French diva's form this season. Ribery seems to be playing with a smile on his face, a massive transformation from last season's misery under former coach Louis van Gaal.
In temperatures approaching 30 degrees, Bayern would have been forgiven for going through the motions with one eye perhaps on tougher fixtures ahead.
However, there was no let up in the second half as Gomez added his second on 52 minutes after unselfish play from the on-fire Frenchman Ribery.
Gomez's third came only minutes later when a clearance from Freiburg's captain Oliver Barth ballooned off Gomez's shin straight over the stranded Freiburg goalkeeper Oliver Baumann into the net.
'Super Mario' capped a great day by notching a fourth (and a second-half hat-trick) when he slammed home a twice-taken penalty on 71 minutes, initially awarded for a foul on Thomas Mueller.
Both Gomez and Ribery were taken off to standing ovations with just under 20 minutes to play. It was left to substitute Nils Petersen to apply the coup de gr'ce and score his first ever Bundesliga goal for Bayern. The former Energie Cottbus striker tapped home a Bastian Schweinsteiger cross in the final minute.
Another clean sheet and another totally dominant display from a seemingly unstoppable FCB machine. The Bavarians have won six consecutive games in all competitions, firing in 19 goals without reply. Manuel Neuer hasn't conceded a Bundesliga goal for 388 minutes, the longest stretch in the whole league.
However, the two tricky away matches on the horizon will surely be a better indication of the status of this Bayern side - a Champions League tie in Villarreal, Spain on Wednesday and next Sunday's match in Gelsenkirchen and the Bundesliga heavyweight clash against traditional rivals Schalke 04.
