Wed 28th May, 2025

In an alarming incident in Gießen early in the morning, a ghost driver caused significant concern on the A485 highway. At approximately 12:23 AM, a patrol from the highway police encountered the wrong-way driver between the Gießen Südkreuz and the Gießen Grünberger Straße exit. The officers swiftly maneuvered to avoid a collision and issued warnings to other vehicles on the road.

Upon realizing the threat, the police exited the highway to pursue the driver in the correct lane. Despite the use of sirens and flashing lights, the driver failed to comply with the orders to stop. In a sudden turn of events, the individual executed a U-turn at the Grünberger Straße exit and proceeded to travel in the right direction.

The driver, described as a man aged between 25 to 30 years, is reported to have fair skin, short brown hair, and a round face. Police efforts to locate him after the incident have been unsuccessful. Authorities are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the white Kia vehicle with Frankfurt license plates. Information regarding the driver or the vehicle's whereabouts after the turn would be greatly appreciated.

In a separate incident in the Wellersburgring area, a 52-year-old pedestrian sustained minor injuries during a hit-and-run. A small white car struck the woman between 9:00 AM and 9:30 AM, causing her to fall. Although the vehicle briefly paused, it then continued driving away. A younger blonde woman walking a dog assisted the injured pedestrian and is being sought by the police as a key witness. Authorities are encouraging anyone with information to contact the Gießen Nord police station.
