In a tragic incident during a hiking trip, a 77-year-old German tourist has lost his life in South Tyrol, Italy. Following several days of intensive search efforts, rescue teams discovered the body of the man in a remote gorge near the village of Seis.

The search for the individual began after he was reported missing, with the last confirmed sighting being at a local supermarket on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities suspect that he may have veered off the hiking path during his solo excursion and subsequently fell, leading to his fatal injuries.

Rescue operations involved a coordinated effort among various agencies, including mountain rescue teams, police, and fire services, supported by a canine unit. The difficult terrain posed significant challenges for the search teams, which had been scouring the area for three consecutive days prior to the discovery of the body.

South Tyrol, predominantly German-speaking, is a popular holiday destination for German tourists, known for its stunning landscapes and outdoor activities. However, such incidents, while rare, highlight the potential dangers associated with hiking in rugged terrains.

Authorities have not yet disclosed any information regarding the man's identity, pending notification of his family. The local community expresses condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
