Berlin Launches 'Freedom Week' to Mark Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall

Berlin is commemorating the anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall with a new initiative called 'Freedom Week.' The event, which debuts this year, brings together eyewitnesses, activists, and artists for a series of activities focused on the themes of liberty, democracy, and human rights.

The official opening is scheduled to take place in front of Berlin's House of Representatives, with the city's governing mayor in attendance. Over the course of the week, more than 130 events are planned across approximately 80 venues throughout the city. A key highlight is the 'World Liberty Congress,' which convenes on the first day of Freedom Week.
