Frankfurt/Main - Authorities have apprehended an individual suspected of arson after releasing his photograph to the public. The police announced that they successfully identified the second suspect following tips received from the community, just one day after the appeal.

The incident in question occurred on October 15, when a large warehouse spanning 6,400 square meters in Frankfurt-Fechenheim was engulfed in flames, resulting in an estimated damage of EUR11 million. The fire required the response of 130 firefighters, who battled the blaze for hours before parts of the structure collapsed.

Investigators quickly determined that the fire was not accidental. Surveillance footage from nearby cameras captured two young men believed to be responsible for the incident. After the public appeal for information on Wednesday, leads began to emerge, leading to the identification of a 19-year-old man of Turkish descent who was subsequently questioned by the police.

Prior to this identification, authorities had already arrested a 25-year-old Italian man, who is believed to be the accomplice. The swift action taken by investigators was acknowledged by a senior prosecutor, who emphasized the effectiveness of the public appeal in generating actionable leads. He stated that while they have made significant progress, they are still encouraging anyone with relevant information regarding the case to contact the criminal police.

The police have provided a contact number for reporting any additional information related to the incident, highlighting the importance of community involvement in resolving such cases.
