Firefighters Tackle Garage Blaze in Norderstedt

Sat 5th Jul, 2025

Norderstedt - A significant firefighting operation was initiated in Norderstedt following a late-night fire alarm. In the early hours, a police patrol noticed thick smoke and loud explosions emanating from an underground parking garage located on Berliner Allee. The fire brigade was dispatched immediately to combat the flames.

Upon arrival, crews confirmed the situation: three vehicles were fully engulfed in flames. The emergency services promptly escalated the alarm level, calling for additional support. Volunteer fire brigades from Garstedt, Glashütte, and Harksheide joined forces with the professional firefighters to manage the incident.

The firefighting efforts were hampered by poor visibility due to the dense smoke. Firefighters, equipped with heavy breathing apparatus and employing specialized extinguishing techniques, managed to bring the blaze under control after approximately 45 minutes. Additional units were deployed to replace contaminated equipment and assist with the decontamination of the responding personnel. In total, around 70 firefighters participated in the operation.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. The cause of the fire remains undetermined and is currently under investigation by the police. The extent of the damage has yet to be assessed.

A special acknowledgment is extended to the emergency responders for their swift and coordinated actions, which prevented a potentially more severe outcome.
