Wed 2nd Jul, 2025

A significant fire erupted in the roof area of a multi-family residence located in Berlin-Schöneberg, sending a large plume of smoke visible from a distance. Emergency services reported that some residents managed to escape via a construction scaffold surrounding the building, while others were assisted by firefighters to exit safely. Fortunately, there have been no reported injuries among the residents.

The incident occurred on Kärntener Straße, where the building was quickly evacuated. A dark cloud of smoke enveloped the neighborhood as the fire spread over an estimated area of 400 square meters. Firefighters utilized multiple hoses to combat the flames, employing aerial ladders and entering the building equipped with breathing apparatuses.

Initial assessments regarding the cause of the fire remain unclear. The intense heat presented a substantial challenge for the emergency responders, who anticipated that the operation would extend for several hours. Access to adjacent streets has been restricted, including a busy section of a main thoroughfare.

According to the fire department, approximately 130 personnel are currently on the scene working diligently to extinguish the blaze in the five-story structure. The extreme temperatures have added to the physical demands on the firefighters, necessitating frequent rotations to ensure their safety and effectiveness during the operation.
