A significant emergency response unfolded in Penzberg, Bavaria, during the night as a fire broke out at a remote farm. The blaze engulfed a barn housing multiple animals in the Edenhof district, prompting a large-scale deployment of firefighting personnel.

Approximately 200 firefighters were dispatched to combat the inferno, which was exacerbated by strong winds due to ongoing severe weather conditions in the region. These winds caused sparks to fly up to 500 meters, presenting additional challenges for the emergency teams, as reported by the fire chief.

Fortunately, a firefighter who happened to be passing by noticed the flames and alerted the authorities. A resident of the farm suffered from shock and was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure. Additionally, two firefighters sustained minor injuries during the operation to extinguish the fire.

Tragically, six calves perished in the fire, while the other livestock remained unharmed, having been outside in the pasture. The entire barn, along with several agricultural machines stored inside, was completely destroyed. However, firefighters were able to save the main farmhouse and two nearby outbuildings by creating a protective water barrier.

Authorities from the criminal police in Weilheim are now investigating the cause of this devastating fire to determine how such a significant incident occurred.
