Finale of the Munich Film Festival

The Munich Film Festival last week drew a sizable crowd to the theaters due to the warm weather. With one final farewell, the festival is now over. The 40th Munich Film Festival concludes on Saturday after numerous award ceremonies and nearly 150 films from around the globe. After the day's end (11:00 a.m. m. ) the final prizes will be given out, including the coveted audience award, where attendees can choose their favorite movie from the festival lineup.

Judith Gerlach, the CSU's digital minister for Bavaria, praised the "socially highly relevant highlights" of this year's Munich Film Festival, calling it "amazing again this year: versatile, cosmopolitan, and highly professional.". "The film festival once more demonstrated Bavaria's strength as a filming location.".

This year's film festival stage appearance by festival director Diana Iljine was her final one. She is leaving her position on October 1 after twelve years, following the anniversary edition.

Since June 23, the annual summer film festival in the capital of Bavaria has screened fresh productions from the German and global film industries. This year's film festival featured some world premieres, including the RTL productions "New Stories from Pumuckl" and "Good Friends - The Rise of FC Bayern.".

Actress Barbara Sukowa received the Cinemerit Award this year for her contributions to the film industry, making it one of the most coveted prizes. The ZDF movies "Wir haben ein Deal" and "Herrhausen - Lord of the Money" received the Bernd Burgemeister Television Award. The Danish movie "Unruly" by director Malou Reymann received the Catholic Fritz Gerlich Prize for human dignity and civic courage from Cardinal Reinhard Marx.
