Tragic Accident in Heilbronn: E-Scooter Rider Fatally Struck by Truck

Heilbronn experienced a tragic incident on Monday evening when a 29-year-old man riding an electric scooter was killed in a collision with a truck. The accident occurred as the victim was traveling towards Heilbronn-City around 8:19 PM.

According to authorities, a 54-year-old truck driver was navigating his Volvo truck along Austraße when the fatal event transpired. While making a right turn, the driver failed to notice the approaching e-scooter rider. Witnesses reported that the truck moved over a green light and struck the scooter from behind.

The collision took place at the intersection of Brüggemannstraße and Austraße, where the e-scooter rider became trapped under the truck. Despite immediate medical attention and resuscitation efforts at the scene, the individual succumbed to his injuries.

Both the e-scooter operator and the truck driver were found to be sober, with no indication of alcohol consumption contributing to the accident. In line with standard procedure, authorities have initiated an investigation into the truck driver's actions, focusing on the possibility of negligent homicide.

The financial impact of the accident is estimated at around 2,000 euros, primarily related to vehicle damages. Following the incident, sections of Brüggemannstraße were closed to traffic until 2 AM to facilitate the investigation and cleanup.
