Munich. Hundreds of costumed people stormed the city center of Munich on Sunday and turned the pedestrian zone into a huge carnival area. Whether a flower girl, escaped convict or parrot, many let their imagination run riot judging by the choice of variety of costumes on display.
According to Munich psychologist, Stephan Lermer, the costume choice says much about the character, "it symbolizes the hidden side of the person". Which does raise a question about those dressed as zombies.
For those who are still eager to celebrate, today and tomorrow the Cosima swimming pool at the Arabella Park has a carnival event. From 12noon to 9pm there is a DJ, competitions for children and water aerobics for adults.
At Marienplatz and Leopold Str, there will be the usual yearly events. Come prepared and expect heavy pedestrian congestion.
