PINK

Pasinger Fabrik – Galerie 1

Experience the significance of the color pink in art and everyday life at the exhibition PINK, running from March 13 to August 3, 2025 at the Pasinger Fabrik. This exhibition showcases works from nearly 30 artists and includes an engaging program featuring dance, theater, film, and workshops where guests can explore their own artistic expressions with the color pink.

Historically, pink was associated with masculinity until the French Revolution, which saw men abandoning colorful clothing, allowing pink to be embraced by women. The introduction of the first Barbie doll in 1959, packaged in pink, solidified its association with femininity in Western Europe. However, pink also symbolizes empowerment and self-determination in the fight for equality, particularly concerning sexuality and life choices.

This exhibition reflects on the symbolic meanings of pink through contemporary art and its societal appropriation.
