München Displaced ONLINE
Join us for the online exhibition titled München Displaced: Jewish Displaced Persons in Munich 1945-1951. In the immediate post-war period, Munich became a transit point for tens of thousands of Displaced Persons (DPs) - individuals who fled, were deported, or displaced due to World War II. Among these were Jewish DPs, who referred to themselves as Der Rest der Geretteten (The Rest of the Saved), in Hebrew Sche'erit Hapleta.
This exhibition project, München Displaced, is a collaboration between the Jewish Museum Munich (with München Displaced. Der Rest der Geretteten) and the Munich City Museum (with München Displaced. Heimatlos nach 1945), showcasing the experiences and narratives of DPs from various backgrounds in a local historical context.
The online exhibition explores the city of Munich from the perspective of Jewish DPs and shares their stories through six key stations:
- Jewish Displaced Persons in Munich
- DP locations in Munich
- Möhlstraße
- Synagogue Reichenbachstraße
- Lenbachhaus 1948
- Trade Office
