making Theatre - Wie Theater entsteht

Deutsches Theatermuseum

The theatre is a complex cosmos where individuals in artistic, craft, and technical professions work together towards a common goal: the premiere night. In the major special exhibition for 2025/26, visitors will enter the backstage area of the Munich Residenztheater and follow the current production of Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet', which premiered on May 16, 2025. How do people in dramaturgy, workshops, or on the rehearsal stage collaborate? The exhibition explores what moves the theatre world today, 50, or even 100 years ago, showcases highlights from the historical collections of the German Theatre Museum, and invites discussions about the future of theatre.
