In Ludwig Thomas' renowned play, the well-known character Engel Aloisius finds himself dissatisfied with life in Heaven. As a result, he is sent by Petrus to Hell. However, he struggles to fit in there as well, causing chaos even in the underworld. With nowhere left to go, it is decided that he should return to Earth and visit his beloved Hofbräuhaus. While one might expect him to be content there, he surprises his friends at the regulars' table.
